Addition of a covered outdoor living space to a brick & tile home facing the canal to the southwest.
The existing house had a flat 2.7m ceiling throughout so this space became an opportunity to create the grand room of the house.
The timber screen blocks afternoon summer sun from the southwest but becomes less dense to the northwest to allow Winter sun in.
An existing BBQ pavilion was reclad and became an annexe to the main space.
The ceiling of the BBQ area folds up to meet the main roof of the outdoor area.
The roof folds down to the BBQ area and becomes the screen for a projector.
The screen frames the canal views.
